Overview
The program specializes in Non-secure Firesetting Treatment and Non-secure Sexual Behavior Treatment. They also offer additional services such as 60- 90 day residential diagnostic specific to firesetting and/or sexual behavior, ART (Aggression Replacement Training) provided to all youth, Substance abuse education and prevention, On-site licensed private school (elementary and secondary), Career and Technical Education to include certifications in specific areas, Experiential education opportunities, Off grounds restitution and community service projects with local fire departments, Casey Life Skills Assessments, BARJ Project (all residents are required to complete it prior to program completion), PTSD offered on an individualized basis and Individualized Art therapy facilitated by clinician. At Abraxas Open Residential Firesetting and Sexual Behavior Treatment the clinical program is facilitated by a master\'s level clinical director and overseen by a consulting psychologist. Upon admission and prior to discharge, every youth receives a psychiatric evaluation. Various evidence and competency based curricula are utilized throughout the course of treatment. The assessments that they offer are FRAT-Y - Firesetting Risk Assessment Tool for Youth - Firesetting specific, ERASOR: Estimate of Risk of Adolescent Sexual Offense Recidivism - Sexual Behavior specific, Casey: Life Skills Training, and Psychiatric evaluation at intake and discharge. Aftercare planning begins upon admission and is the primary focus of the fourth and final phase of the program, Relapse Prevention and Planning. Residents work with their treatment team to develop a detailed relapse prevention plan to support them in transitioning from the program.
